I have been celebrating all weekend because today is my 32nd birthday!!
One of my birthday resolutions is to post more regularly to this blog. So, for my first post back, I thought it would be fun to share this cute birthday in a jar!
a 2 quart mason jar
handful of paper crinkle
package paper straws
box of birthday candles
package of cupcake liners
1 cookie cutter
- I find it easiest to put the paper straws in the jar first.
- Then add the crinkle paper. Make sure to put it all around the base of the straws.
- Next add the cupcake liners.
- Then add the candles.
- Now close the jar.
- Using one piece of ribbon, attach the balloons and cookie cutter to the neck of the jar. I like to use a double knot here.
- Again using a double knot, add several strands of ribbon to the neck of the jar.
- Using your scissors, curl the ribbon.
That’s it! Use this the next time you need to put together a quick and easy gift!!

Idea inspired by Shirley’s
While at the dollar store I came across some pom poms, pipe cleaners, and eyes. I thought they would make a fun craft for Lucy. Boy was I right!! She loved making and playing with these little critters. She calls them her “bugs” and tells everyone about them.
Hot glue gun
Just bend, cut and glue the pipe cleaners to the pom poms and add some eyes. Let your imagination run wild!! Obviously I did the cutting and gluing while Lucy did the directing.

Here’s a photo of our newest addition, Annie!! She was born a few months ago via c-section, which I wasn’t happy about. But I can’t complain because she’s healthy and that’s all that really matters to me. She was a week late and weighed 7 lbs. 2 oz.
When Lucy started to feed herself, I found that I was spending way too much time removing stains from her clothes. The smaller cloth bibs were not cutting it anymore. My solution was the Bumkins SuperBib! I love them because they completely cover Lucy’s clothes, they’re waterproof, machine washable and cute! Oh and they even have long-sleeved, baby and toddler versions.
Even though we don’t always agree, you have always supported me.
I thank you for that.
I love you Valentine.
